Florida VC investments up, but still ‘anemic,’ researchers say

Florida venture capital investments increased 65 percent, compared to 46 percent nationwide, in the 12 months ended June 30, according to a report prepared by Cherrystone Management Consultants for InternetCoast. But Florida still accounts for only 1.1 percent of venture capital transactions.

“Florida’s share of U.S. venture capital investment activity is anemic,” InternetCoast Executive Director Dale Gregory said in a statement.

Businesses in Florida raised $422 million in 50 venture capital investments over the period, compared to $256 million in 45 transactions the prior 12 months. South Florida led the state in investments, accounting for 13 of 25 transactions in the first half of 2014. Read more here.
