A digital festival coming to downtown Orlando in 2015 is expected to pump $17 million-$21 million into the local economy, officials announced Jan. 13.

The Orlando Interactive Experience, or OrlandoiX, will run Oct. 2-6, 2015. It’s expected to bring 80,000 to 100,000 people to downtown and boost the local economy via participants’ spending on hotel rooms, travel, food and beverage and event activity, officials said.

The plan is to turn downtown Orlando into a digital village for interactive media, entertainment technology and digital arts, part of Orlando’s $14 billion technology industry, officials said. Read more here.
