Electric battery maker Microvast eyes Seminole County for R&D center and new jobs

An electric battery research facility and at least 100 high-wage jobs soon may be on the way to Seminole County.

Manufacturer Microvast Inc. seeks $100,000 in Job Growth Incentive funds from the county to open a 48,500-square-foot research and development center in Lake Mary, according to county documents. The Stafford, Texas-based maker of batteries for electric vehicles operates a small presence in a University of Central Florida Research Park business incubator, and Orlando Business Journal previously reported the company planned to expand that into a large lab operation. Read more here.
