The University of Miami in Coral Gables will be the first college campus in the nation to receive AT&T’s 5G+ and Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) technology.

The Dallas-based telecommunications giant (NYSE: T) on Wednesday announced that the university’s soon-to-be upgraded network is expected to support innovative research and teaching methods. That includes mixed-reality company Magic Leap‘s “Magicverse,” a virtual spatial computing world with an infinite number of “layers” and applications built by UM faculty, staff and students for Magic Leap One devices.
