Global defense company Cubic Corp. (NYSE: CUB) is on the hunt to fill dozens of jobs available for its Orlando-based subsidiary Cubic Defense Applications Inc. But the company is not looking for just the next best software engineer — rather, executives want those who will fit the firm’s new image of being a sleek, innovative, defense contractor.

“When I interview someone, I interview them from a different prospective,” said Ray Oliver, general manager of Cubic Corp’s Orlando location that houses nearly 300 employees. “I have technical people with me during the interview so they can ask the job experience questions, but I am seeing if the candidate will be a good cultural fit for us — if they can work in a team environment — not the traditional defense worker.”
