Welbilt Inc. is working with a Silicon Valley-based food delivery company in a partnership designed to bring fresher, healthier food to your door.
Welbilt (NYSE: WBT), a commercial food equipment manufacturer based in New Port Richey, will develop custom-built cooking appliances for Zume’s food delivery trucks, which prepare food while en route to the customer.
Zume Pizza currently delivers pizza in the area around its Mountain View, California headquarters and a few surrounding neighborhoods. In conjunction with the Welbilt deal, the company is creating a new corporate structure, called Zume Inc., and will expand its delivery area and open up its platform to other third-party food companies that want a more flexible system to cook en route and meet customer demand.
