The region’s biggest research institution is tackling coronavirus on many fronts. USF Libraries has created a map that updates in real-time with the number of coronavirus cases and deaths, breaking down those statistics further into residential status, sex and age. USF Health has been pulling the majority of weight: It teamed up with Tampa General Hospital to create 3D printed swabs to test for coronavirus, created a fund with a donation from Sen. Rick Scott to research the virus and is helping the College of Engineering make 3D printed face shields for medical professionals to wear.

The university’s foundation also created a fund for students undergoing unexpected costs when it comes to learning online, which has now raised over $130,000.
