Wyncode, Knight name Future Leaders of Tech scholarship winners

The Knight Foundation’s Future Leaders of Tech Scholarship Program today announced two of nine Wyncode students who will receive a full scholarship to attend Wyncode’s Web Immersive coding program. The recipients are: Arielle Dickey and Henry Arbolaez.

Supported by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, the Future Leaders of Tech aims to provide financial assistance for residents of low income neighborhoods in Miami- Dade County that are entrepreneurially minded and looking to enter the city’s growing local tech scene. The scholarship fully covers the cost of WyncodeAcademy’s intensive nine week Immersive Web Development program gives anyone the skills necessary to begin a career in coding, said Wyncode co-founder Juha Mikkola.

The finalists were selected by a panel of judges composed of three leaders from the Miami tech scene:Brian Brackeen, CEO of Kairos, a company specializing in facial recognition software; Kiesha Moodie, the Director of Alumni Engagement for Teach For America; and Widny St. Louis, a Wyncode alumni. The panelists conducted interviews and chose the winners based on their motivation, ambition and future goals.
