What Central Florida can gain from SpaceX’s leap into $260B satellite industry


SpaceX has jumped into the satellite business — a move that may bring more big business to Florida’s Space Coast.

The Hawthorne, Calif.-based rocket company on Aug. 21 filed a trademark for the name “Starlink” with the U.S. Patent & Trademark office.

Starlink is expected to provide telecommunication connections to the internet, high-speed wireless internet access, multiple user access and more via satellite, the trademark filing document showed.
