USF takes step forward with implementing autonomous shuttles on campus

Students and staff at the University of South Florida may soon be able to take a ride in autonomous vehicles to zip around the Tampa campus.

The Hillsborough Metropolitan Planning Organization sponsored a study on the feasibility of implementing the self-driving transit shuttles on the USF campus.

The findings of the MPO Autonomous Transit Feasibility Study for USF Campus were presented on Oct. 10 by Brian Pessaro, a senior research associate with the National Bus Rapid Transit Institute that’s located inside USF’s Center for Urban Transportation Research.
