UF entrepreneurship program aims to attack poverty

The Gainesville Entrepreneurship and Adversity Program addresses the city’s poverty rate with programs designed to help entrepreneurs facing a variety of issues.

When Charlotte Terry-Mendez started her cleaning business in Gainesville close to seven years ago, she wasn’t sure how much to charge customers.

With a background in social sciences, Terry-Mendez admitted she felt guilty about her pricing despite providing a service to others.

“I felt bad for charging individuals,” Terry-Mendez said.
