UCF’s patents unlock bright ideas for biz community


    It looks like the secret is out that the University of Central Florida is Orlando’s think tank for local businesses, according to new data on patent licensing.

    In 2017, UCF’s Office of Technology Transfer reported 57 U.S. patents issued, 106 patent applications filed, 36 licenses and options issued to companies and entrepreneurs, and a total of $3.9 million earned from licensing income, which includes licensing fees and royalties.
