    Mike McConnell served as the former director of the U.S. National Security Agency and had settled into retirement in his northern Virginia home when University of South Florida President Steve Currall came to him with a proposition: become the new executive director of Cyber Florida, the Tampa-based agency focused on cybersecurity across the state. McConnell accepted and took the helm in February. One month later, the novel coronavirus pandemic swept the nation, bringing with it the potential for more cybersecurity scams and hacks.

    For McConnell, it’s just another challenge to complete.
