Tampa health care software developer pays $57M fine to settle false claims allegations

Tampa-based electronic health records software developer Greenway Health will pay a $57.25 million settlement as part of an agreement with Vermont federal prosecutors who alleged the company caused its users to submit false claims to the Electronic Health Record Incentives Program.

The settlement agreement is the second largest recovery in the history of the U.S. District of Vermont, according to the U.S Attorney’s Office. Prosecutors say Greenway misrepresented the capabilities of its electronic records product Prime Suite and gave $750,000 in kickbacks to users to recommend the product.
