A video game that features dogs propelled through outer space by their flatulence has built a much deeper purpose than juvenile humor.

The developers behind Tootin’ Pooches have adapted the game’s mechanics to work with sensors that translate a player’s muscle contractions into movement in the game — that means those with missing limbs can play the four-player game against friends or on their own, developing muscles that would otherwise be used less frequently.
