S. Fla. university to host U.S. Department of Commerce cybersecurity conference

Florida International University and a think tank have been selected by a federal government agency to host an annual cybersecurity conference amid efforts to secure the national cyber infrastructure.

A division of the U.S. Department of Commerce granted FIU and New America, a nonprofit, nonpartisan think tank, a cooperative agreement to host the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Conference and Expo (NICE) for the next five years.

The event aims to bring together leaders of the public and private sectors to examine challenges and opportunities for higher education and industry to address growing cybersecurity workforce shortages.
