Osceola County commissioners unanimously approved $15 million in research funding to create a design center that will help lure an international research center.

The county approved the funding on May 23, agreeing to give the International Consortium for Advanced Manufacturing Research $3 million for five years to help with equipment, personnel and industry contracts. Initially, the design center will be housed with ICAMR’s current headquarters, but will later be relocated to the tech campus — the 500-acre area that surrounds the Florida Advanced Manufacturing Research.
