Friday’s release of state employment numbers showed that the Orlando area has added more jobs in the past 12 months – 46,000 – than other Florida metros.
In fact, Gov. Rick Scott chose an Maitland-based tech company, Viewpost, as the scene of his announcement about the numbers. Viewpost is in the middle of expanding and adding hundreds of jobs with state and local incentive dollars, which was covered in this blog several times recently.
According to the state, the Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford MSA had the third-highest online job demand in Florida in November 2014 with 32,675 openings and also ranked number two in high-wage, high-skill science technology engineering math (STEM) demand in the state with 8,145 openings in those fields.
