Orlando startup roundup: Robotics firm lands $2.4M in VC, app development firm gets acquired

A couple of deals in the local startup community took place last week, shedding more light on the innovation taking place in the region.

First, Orlando-based mobile app development firm Teeps LLC announced that it was acquired by another Orlando mobile app and Web development firm, Concepta Inc., on Dec. 11.

Teeps, which was started by Joshua Imel and Terrance Donnelly in 2014, saw success as a small firm getting its start in Winter Park. Within five years, the company’s workforce grew to 20 workers, and within two years of being in business, its revenue was nearly $2 million. Just last year, the company moved from its 1,700-square-foot office at 2250 Lee Road in Winter Park into its new 4,700-square-foot office in downtown Orlando at 30 W. Colonial Drive.
