One Spark chairman Peter Rummell says he will no longer pick up tab of Jacksonville festival

The future of Jacksonville’s One Spark event is up in the air as the main financial backer, Peter Rummell, says he’s no longer going to foot the bill — after pouring millions of dollars of his own money into the festival since its inception three years ago.

As the board of directors of the entrepreneurial festival considers its future in October, financial sustainability will be the key factor that decides whether the downtown party continues.

Rummell, a local developer and chairman of the One Spark board of directors, told the Times-Union that he might continue to contribute some funding, but that the days of paying for the event nearly by himself are over.
