New Rollins partnership is Shark Tank for social entrepreneurs

Hoping to make Central Florida the nation’s hub for social enterprise — business ventures that both make money and address society’s ills — local leaders announced a new initiative Wednesday to give potential entrepreneurs an education, legal advice, mentoring and investment capital.

The Central Florida Social Enterprise Accelerator will be housed at Rollins College, where participants selected for the twice-yearly program will receive up to six months of a customized curriculum, free of charge; access to business mentors and legal, accounting and marketing experts; and a chance to pitch their idea to a panel of experts — a sort of Shark Tank for do-gooders.
