t’s been one of the first organizations to showcase Jacksonville area entrepreneurs. Now iStart Jax is going through a name change. It has switched its name to iStart Valley in hopes of having a broader appeal to area startup businesses and potential support partners.

iStart Jax started about five years ago in Jacksonville and many consider it a forerunner to the startup crowdfunding festival now known as One Spark. But iStart primarily focuses on the beginning phases for entrepreneurs — that point in time where concepts might need to be ended or seriously revised. As with startup businesses themselves, iStart administrators decided it was time for revisions in the organization.

“We want to be the gateway to the Silicon Valley for all the idea creators and help them get to the next level,” said MJ Charmani, founder and chairman of iStart.
