Florida ranks No. 24 among the 50 states in a newly released report that measures the capacities needed to thrive in an economy driven by technological innovation.
Florida improved its overall standing in the 2017 State New Economy Index since last year, when it ranked No. 25, but it slipped from 2012 and 2010, when it ranked No. 21.
The report suggests a need for change in economic development policy, said Dale Gregory, executive director, InternetCoast, a Boca Raton nonprofit focused on sparking innovation statewide.
