Here’s what Port Canaveral learned after SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy launch

John Murray and his team with Canaveral Port Authority knew SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy launch would be a big deal, but the influx of people there to see the massively powerful rocket still was a bit eye-opening.

The Falcon Heavy, a three-rocket, 27-engine spacecraft launched from Kennedy Space Center on Feb. 6, an event that attracted more than 100,000 guests to Brevard County — attention the coast hasn’t seen for a rocket since the days of the Saturn V rocket and space shuttle missions. The launch was a success and businesses like hotels, restaurants, bars, and caters loved the attention. But traffic was an absolute nightmare, said Murray, CEO of Canaveral Port Authority.
