Google Fiber may be available in Orlando soon

Here’s some good news: Central Florida may not totally be out of luck in getting Google’s ultra-fast internet, thanks to new technology that could eliminate the need to lay new fiber cables.

A report from Recode featured an interview with the top executive of Access — the company that oversees Google’s broadband business. Craig Barratt, CEO of Access, explained that h e and Google are working on technology that can beam wireless broadband directly into specific locations. If accomplished, Google could better compete with AT&TVerizon, Charter and Comcast.
