Yet another tech startup in Central Florida has closed on funding for its product via a successful Kickstarter campaign.
Melbourne-based Freewavz, which develops wire-free earphones with built-in fitness monitoring, closed on $325,208 in funding on Aug. 7, with 1,591 people backing the project. Kickstarter, a leading crowdfunding website, allows people to support a project by donating to it. Usually donations are in exchange for an early version of a product, or some other recognition or promotional material, etc. Successful fundraising projects of more than $100,000 are still rare.
Recently another tech project that closed on Kickstarter funding included Orlando-based Digithinkit, which developed an internet privacy device called iCloak. Read more here.
