When John Poindexter got tired of the traffic in Fort Lauderdale and decided to run his airplane brokerage from his hometown of Bradenton, he became one of the first members in a new co-working space there called Station 2 Innovation.

Members pay $150 a month to be able to work in an old, two-story building on the east side of town.

The roomy two-story building at 912 7th Ave. E. has served as a city hall and a fire station in past lives. It boasts kitchens on both floors, and features old-time windows and woodwork coupled with Wi-Fi Internet access and free off-street parking.
