Female founders gather in Jacksonville on International Women’s Day

Dozens of women entrepreneurs gathered at the University of North Florida Thursday for PS27’s third annual Female Founders Forum, sponsored by Fidelity National Information Services Inc. (NYSE: FIS).

The event, held on International Women’s Day, was themed “She Thinks Big” and aimed to inspire, connect and educate women with early-stage companies. Alexa Carlin, a national speaker, serial entrepreneur and CEO and founder of Women Empower Expo, headlined the event.

Carlin started her first business at the age of 17, a jewelry line that made bracelets for the OmniPeace Foundation. Later while attending the University of Florida, Carlin started HelloPerfect, a blog that elicited quotes from celebrities ranging from Shaquille O’Neal to Mark Cuban. These endeavors enabled Carlin, who in high school was too shy to raise her hand in class, to build confidence.
