FDA approves Boca Raton company’s treatment for hot flashes from menopause

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved a hormone therapy designed by a Boca Raton-based company to treat hot flashes for women going through menopause.

Bijuva is expected to be available in pharmacies in the second quarter of 2019, TherapeuticsMD Inc. announced Monday. Earlier this year, the FDA approved its insert to treat vulvar and vaginal atrophy (VVA) and dyspareunia, or vaginal pain during sex caused by menopause, which was the company’s (Nasdaq: TXMD) first market-approved product.

“This is an important milestone for TherapeuticsMD as we continue to build towards offering a full portfolio of products to women at all stages of their lives,” said Robert Finizio, TherapeuticsMD CEO and co-founder.
