Exclusive: Historic downtown building sold to new-to-Orlando company

The nearly 100-year-old Angebilt Building — which once hosted presidents Calvin Coolidge and John F. Kennedy along with stars such as Elvis Presley — has been sold to a Chicago-based coworking company.

Orlando-based New Angebilt Corp. sold the 11-story building at 37 N. Orange Ave. to Novel Coworking LLC for $13.7 million on Jan. 3, according to the parties involved in the deal. The sale has not been publicly recorded.

Novel plans to renovate at least a portion of the 100,323-square-foot building for a coworking space, but the cost for the renovations was not disclosed. Pre-leasing has started for private offices, office suites and co-working memberships. The building is currently about 85 percent occupied.
