Engineering firm Geeks & Nerds grabs $13.6M Army contract, Space Florida funds

An engineering firm at the University of Central Florida’s business incubator in Research Park plans to increase its workforce, thanks to a big defense contract and government funding.

Geeks & Nerds Corp. won a $13.6 million contract earlier this month with the U.S. Army to simulate rotary wing aircraft landings — a move that can lower costs and risks significantly for the U.S. government. The systems controlled test environment infrastructure will help the Army improve its simulated aviation testing capabilities in degraded visual environment conditions. The company will develop and produce sensor assemblies placed into low-cost simulated flight programs to mimic rain and dust — environmental conditions that will help enhance the Army’s aviation programs.
