Elon Musk shook up SpaceX satellite team to speed up launch timeline as race with OneWeb heats up

Elon Musk founded SpaceX with an eye toward rocketing to Mars, and while the company’s commercial rocket launches and moon tourism generate tens of millions of dollars toward that goal, he wants to get his real moneymaker — the Starlink satellite constellation — into orbit sooner rather than later.

But the project was moving slower than the SpaceX chief wanted, so in June he flew to Redmond, Wash., and fired several of the senior management team leaders working on it.

Reuters first reported the executive shakeup.
