Cosmetic tech company breaks into foreign billion-dollar market

Apira Science has received clearance to distribute its hair-growth therapy laser technology in one of the biggest hair care markets in the world.

The Boca Raton company will begin selling its iGrow Hair Growth System, a low-level light therapy aimed at fighting hereditary hair loss, in Brazil, the second-largest hair care market in the world and third-largest consumer market for beauty products overall. Clearance of the home-use laser device was the first of its kind for ANVISA, Brazil’s regulatory agency responsible for oversight of the cosmetics industry, among others.
