Consult A Doctor, a Miami Beach telehealth provider startup, was acquired by Dallas-based Teledoc, the nation’s first and largest telehealth provider with more than 6 million members. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Consult A Doctor, founded in 2007 by Wolf Shlagman, closed a $5M Series A round financing in 2010 led by Morgenthau Venture Partners, and joined by New World Angels and Promociones Bursa, an international consortium of investors in healthcare and technology. With this acquisition, individuals and employees of small- to medium-size businesses — Consult A Doctor’s specialty — have access to Teladoc’s national network of U.S. board-certified, state-licensed physicians for consults, according to the Dallas-based Teledoc. “This acquisition marks a milestone for Teladoc by expanding our offerings and capabilities to new market segments,” said Jason Gorevic, Teladoc’s CEO. “With this acquisition, Teladoc will expand the reach of its services to more companies, health plans, organizations and individuals looking for quality health care solutions at an affordable cost. We’re proud to be the leader in telehealth and the acquisition will significantly increase our existing scale advantage over the rest of the market.” Read more here.
