’s stock soars in initial public offering


    Online pet supplier retailer Chewy came running out of its doggy cage Friday with an initial stock offering of $22 a share — higher than expected — which would give the company a market value of $8.8 billion.

    The Dania Beach-based company’s tail was clearly wagging as Chewy’s stock jumped to 64 percent above the IPO pricing to open at $36, and then to a high of $40.36 a share. The stock closed the day at $34.99, up 59 percent, or $12.99 a share.
