Car-sharing startup Getaround expands to Miami

Vehicle-sharing company Getaround has entered the Florida market by launching an office in Coral Gables.

The San Francisco-based company, whose technology allows users to instantly rent and drive cars owned by people in the area, has established a team of about a dozen people including four full-time staff members and a handful of contractors locally for its launch this week. The startup plans to eventually hire more people in Miami, said Nick Chong, Miami native and general manager of Getaround Miami.

“With our traffic really exploding, Miami hasproven to be a market where we could do very well,” Chong said. “We can help out both locals and tourists alike with their mobility options.”
