Call of Duty: What Orlando stands to gain from this e-sports event

Similar to big college scouts attending a high school football game to scope out the talent on the field, Orlando has an opportunity to wow some big-name game publishers and developers as representatives attend a major e-sports event at the Amway Center.

The Call of Duty World League Championship will be in Orlando Aug. 9-13— an event that will draw nearly 5,000 attendees each day. As the first e-sports event of this scale in Orlando, it may spark other companies to host similar events in the area, which would be good for local businesses, said Kevin Flynn, director of product marketing for Call of Duty e-sports.
