A group of venture capitalists who focus on angel investing in startup companies has launched the Palm Beach Innovation Fund.
One of the key people is W. Jeffrey Brown, of West Palm Beach-based Honey Tree Holdings. Brown also helped establish Palm Beach Angels, an angel investing group. Angel investment refers to investment in the earliest stage of a new startup company. The amount of money invested is small compared to later-stage venture capital, but the returns are usually higher because angel investors often get equity or a decision-making role in a company.
“The goal is to diversify our portfolios, find the best entrepreneurs and help the startup community,” Brown said. “There’s no other active angel fund in this part of Palm Beach County.” Read more here.
