A Novel idea: Downtown high-rise’s new owner to offer more options for local businesses

A Chicago firm that offers shared office space for rent throughout the U.S. now owns the downtown Orlando building that houses one of the region’s first co-working concepts.

And it plans to expand considerably, adding to the growing competitive market.

Novel Coworking LLC on Jan. 3 spent $13.7 million to purchase the nearly 100-year-old Angebilt Building at 37 N. Orange Ave. from Orlando-based New Angebilt Corp. The 11-story building since 2009 had among its tenants CoLab Orlando, a 13,000-square-foot co-working space that housed dozens of small businesses and startups.
