One of South Florida’s fastest-growing and most innovative companies is opening its new headquarters on the site where the personal computer was born, the Sun Sentinel reported. Modernizing Medicine, a healthcare-technology company, is leasing 100,000 square feet in the former IBM building at 4850 Network Way in Boca Raton. Founded by serial entrepreneur Dan Cane and Dr. Michael Sherling in 2010, Modernizing Medicine now employs more than 800 people. “We’re connecting the innovation of the past with the innovation of today. This is a building where people had the freedom and capacity to think big about the future,” Cane told the Sun Sentinel. Parts of the offices will be named after IBM innovations, including its Simon conference room, named for the world’s first smartphone created by IBM in the early 1990s.
